My name is Kat. I am experienced, insured, qualified and trustworthy. You can rest assured that your pets will be in professional and caring hands. I am the owner of two dogs- Zappa and Eddie plus a cat- Peanut who rules the roost! I know how hard it is to leave your fur kids behind when you go away, but I would like to make this easier by being there for your pets instead.
I grew up in a small country town in northern New South Wales. As a child, I would tag along with our local veterinarian on his daily rounds and owned a menagerie of my own, ranging from chickens to horses.
My first job working with animals was as a veterinary nurse for a very busy Veterinary and specialist practice in Mosman, Sydney. Then, I was lucky enough to be employed as a Zookeeper at Taronga Zoo, Sydney for 15 years, working with elephants, seals, penguins, parrots and many others. During this time, I ran my own puppy classes in Chatswood and Five Dock, Sydney sharing my training knowledge with pet owners. I also worked at RSPCA NSW as an Inspector, investigating cruelty cases.
A work transfer for my husband in the Australian Defence Force meant a move to Brisbane in 2015. While working at RSPCA QLD in the animal rehabilitation team I was handling nervous, scared and aggressive cats. I discovered how much I loved showing these animals that they could learn to trust people and it was amazing how much they could turn around with time and care. I also strengthened my skills with handling all breeds and types of dogs.
Settling in the Gold Coast, I started working at Currumbin Wildlife Sanctuary. I get to work with all sorts of cool animals from Capybaras to dingoes!
I am now launching “Wagger” after struggling to find someone I could trust to look look after my 15 year old boy, Zappa and his special needs as he ages. My professional experience will mean your own animals will have the very best of care, you will have peace of mind when you leave your precious pets with me.
